The MP4423AGQ-P is a DC-DC switching regulator that can serve many different applications. The MP4423AGQ-P is a DC-DC Step-Down Switching Regulator with integrated MOSFET and PWM controllers. It is designed to offer high-efficiency and fast regulation times. The MP4423AGQ-P uses a single inductor, having no external Schottky diode, making it an ideal solution for board-space constrained designs. This step-down regulator operates over a wide range of input voltages, from 6V to 36V, making it suitable for applications such as automotive, industrial and medical.

The MP4423AGQ-P is optimized for high-accuracy output and fast transient response. Its low output voltage ripple enables high accuracy output voltage for the most advanced power conversion techniques. The MP4423AGQ-P also includes robust protection features such as output over-voltage, over-temperature and short circuit protection, over-current forcing and automatic skip mode to protect the power substrate from short-circuits and prevent overtemperature during start-up.

The working principle of the MP4423AGQ-P is based on the synchronous buck converter topology. The device is a step-down converter, allowing a voltage input to be reduced to a desired output voltage which is regulated by an on-board integrating comparator. As the input power is applied to the input voltage, it is fed through the MOSFET switch which is driven by an internally generated PWM signal. As the MOSFET switch is activated, the inductor stores energy and begins to ramp up. When the voltage across the inductor reaches references voltage, the MOSFET is turned off, which causes the energy stored in the inductor to be discharged into the output capacitor. This action causes the output voltage to drop. The output voltage is monitored by the on board voltage reference, which is compared to the output voltage. If the output voltage is higher than the reference, the PWM comparator will order the MOSFET to remain off; if the output voltage is lower, the PWM will order the MOSFET turn on.

The MP4423AGQ-P is suitable for applications requiring high reliability and low power loss. Its integrated adjustable PWM switching frequency allows for an optimal design to meet the demands of space-constrained designs. Additionally, integrated current sense solution eliminates the need for external sense resistors.
