The MP4460DQ-LF-Z is a member of the MP44XX family of Display Power Controllers from Monolithic Power Systems. It is designed to provide cost-effective power conversion solutions for LCD-panel display applications. The MP4460DQ-LF-Z is a 3-channel synchronous step-down DC/DC switching regulator, integrated with an I²C-controlled adaptive output voltage control, a slew-rate control, a soft start, an over-current protection and an AdvanceBurst^TM Mode. This device is well suited for technologies such as laptop PC, consumer PCs, monitor and LCD display.

The MP4460DQ-LF-Z DC/DC switching regulator provides high power conversion efficiency over the full load range of the 3 channels. The output voltage of each channel can be adjusted from 0.45V to 4.5V with a step of 25mV in the static state via the I²C-bus serial interface. With the advanced adaptive voltage positioning (AVP) control, the output voltage can be precisely regulated during dynamic loading and changing temperature conditions. The latest AdvanceBurst Mode current-mode control scheme also extends the operating range of low load power consumption.

Working Principle:

The MP4460DQ-LF-Z DC/DC switching regulator is a current-mode step-down DC/DC switching regulator. The topology consists of a synchronous rectifier, an inductor and a capacitor. The operation is based on a MOSFET switch driven by the current-mode control loop. The voltage loop controls the output voltage while the current loop adjusts the peak current of the switch to regulate the output voltage.

The synchronization, stand-by, slew rate and soft start modes, which provide various features and operating modes to further save the power consumption, are all programmable via the I²C-bus. The device is mounted in a thin and low-profile 3mm×4mm DFN package and it\'s available in -20°C to 85°C temperature range.
