The MP4KE75CA is a Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diode device, which can be used to protect electronics in a number of different applications. The two epi layers form a rectifying junction which acts as a rectifier\'s forward biased diode. A resistor is connected in series between the rectifying junction and the epi layer, which together comprise the entire package. This allows the device to be used for providing surge protection.When the device is subjected to a voltage greater than the breakdown voltage of the diode, the silicon oxide layer breaks down and the current reaches the resistance layer which allows current to be conducted. In this way, the device absorbs all the excess energy from the surge and dissipates it safely.
