The MP4KE130CAE3 is an ultra subminiature capacitive discharge spark gap of the TVS - Diodes family. Capacitive Discharge Spark Gaps (CDSG) provide ESD protection at very high speed. In the telecom segment, CDSG are widely used in noise cancellation circuits and for protection of data interfaces.The MP4KE130 series contains transient suppressors based on spark gapped diodes. This series is specifically designed to provide high surge current capability with excellent clamping ratio over a wide frequency range. The high surge capability of the MP4KE130, in combination with its passive protection design, makes it an ideal solution for protecting telecom circuits, such as data and voice lines, transmission lines and baseband cables.Application Field
The MP4KE130 series provides high-speed ESD protection for telecom circuits, such as data and voice lines, transmission lines and baseband cables. They are ideal for safety applications in circuits where high ESD immunity is required.MP4KE130C-AE3 devices are the preferred solution for high-speed ESD protection of telecoms lines with low-impedance coupling. Due to their small size and low capacitance, MP4KE130CAE3 devices offer a high level of ESD protection without significantly degrading signal integrity.Working Principle
The MP4KE130CAE3 is a capacitive discharge spark gap (CDSG) device. CDSG devices provide ultra-fast ESD protection and clamp the voltage to a safe level within a few nanoseconds of the event.When exposed to an ESD event, the small central gap between the two plates of the MP4KE130CAE3 produces an arc, ionizing the air between the plates. This results in a high voltage breakdown effect in the vicinity of the spark gap, preventing further voltage rise. The breakdown voltage is limited by the coercive field of the insulating material, which is typically around 10-12 volts, depending on the device rating. The device then safely dissipates the ESD energy as heat through a current path created in the surface of the dielectric material.Conclusion
