TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) diodes, commonly referred to as "crowbars", are devices designed to protect sensitive electronic components and circuits from various forms of overvoltage transients. The MP4KE150A is a robust unidirectional diode, known as a Thyristor Surge Arrestor Diode (TSAD). The MP4KE150A is available in a wide range of packages, from the very small SOD-323 to the very large D2PAK, making it ideal for a large number of applications. Its surge current rating of 150A for the 10/1000΅s pulse allows it to protect against very high-voltage transients.
In a typical application, the MP4KE150A is connected directly between the power supply and the device to be protected.
