The NCP3135GEVB evaluation board offers a way to quickly and easily evaluate the operation of the NCP3135 Gate Driver IC. This evaluation board is part of the DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS Evaluation Board family. The NCP3135GEVB is designed to evaluate the operation of the IC using the NCP3135 integrated PFC power factor correction and active bridging functions, along with accurate current sharing with up to 8 PFC outputs.
The NCP3135GEVB is intended for use in applications such as server, networking, and industrial power supplies. It is available in a 22.86mm x 21.7mm 6-Layer LGA package that can operate from a wide input voltage range of 6V to 28V, and has adjustable output voltage up to 13.2V.
The board is fully populated and operates with the NCP3135 integrated circuit and associated external components. The NCP3135 Gate Driver IC is a peak current mode driver IC for synchronous rectifier SR motor control applications. It has a static cycle-by-cycle current limiting protection feature that prevents current overloads and automatic thermal shutdown protection.
This NCP3135GEVB includes an on-board flyback transformer to allow the user to easily evaluate the NCP3135’s operation and performance in terms of power factor correction. It includes a non-inverting buffered signal path to allow the user to utilize the widest available range of voltage, current, and frequency options.
The NCP3135GEVB also provides complete protection to the IC against over-voltage, over-current, and thermal shutdowns. It also has the capability to monitor the power factor correction phase angle, allowing the user to make corrections to the power factor as needed. Additionally, it includes a control interface, allowing the user to use the NCP3135’s integrated analog signal-conditioning features such as UVLO and voltage regulation.
The NCP3135GEVB implements the highest level of Volt-Second performance in the industry, and is designed to implement the highly accurate current sharing feature up to 8 outputs. Additionally, it is integrated with pulse-width-modulation (PWM) and constant-current-mode (CCM) control, allowing the drive performance of an SRM to be accurately addressed.
The NCP3135GEVB also includes a capacitor discharge feature that reduces the input voltage’s AC ripple to the lowest possible value. This creates a high quality AC power source for the user’s application. Additionally, this board includes a charge pump circuit to maintain the output voltage during low-load conditions, protecting the system against over-voltage and under-voltage conditions.
The NCP3135GEVB Evaluation Board provides a comprehensive set of features and performance capabilities that allows users to accurately evaluate the operation and performance of the NCP3135 Gate Driver IC. This evaluation board is designed to be easy to use and is an ideal platform for developing and testing applications requiring high performance PFC and SRM control.
