NCP3163INVGEVB provides a complete primary side control solution for high frequency offline ac-dc and dc-dc flyback applications up to 5 MHz. The board adds to the capabilities of the NCP3163 family of high-voltage current-mode offline pre-regulators by adding a dedicated primary side ultraviolet (UV)LOOP® device, allowing engineers to quickly and easily evaluate the benefits of the NCP3163.

The NCP3163INVGEVB board is a general-purpose evaluation board with advanced features for evaluating the NCP3163 flyback power converter IC. The board is designed to convert a regulated 12 V input voltage into either 12 V or 24 V regulated output voltage. The NCP3163 power conversion IC is suitable for a wide range of applications such as personal healthcare and home appliances, home automation, as well as general purpose industrial and medical applications.

The NCP3163INVGEVB board features a high-efficiency, current-mode control architecture, controlled by a dedicated primary side ultraviolet (UV)LOOP device, that allows for fast transient response, good load and line regulation, reduced output voltage ripple and improved reliability and immunity to noise. The UVLOOP device is directly integrated into the board and provides the optimum Loop Compensation setting. In addition, the board includes a comprehensive set of protection features such as overcurrent protection (OCP), overvoltage protection (OVP), and an accurate current-mode controller.

The NCP3163INVGEVB also features a complete set of test points, giving designers access to important signals such as power input rail, output voltage, switching node, power switch voltage, inductor current sense, rectified voltage, current sense, output voltage, voltage supply, inductor voltage, and power switch current.

The NCP3163INVGEVB also provides a comprehensive set of PC software tools for quick and easy design optimization. This includes a GUI tool for adjusting key design parameters and enables designers to quickly and easily explore design space and optimize their designs. The board is also compatible with master oscillator routing (MOR) design, allowing for an increased design flexibility for different form factors.
