Thyristors, also known as silicon controlled rectifiers (SCRs), are commonly referred to as solid-state switches. TVS - Thyristors are semiconductor devices that can be used to control current flow in a circuit. The P2100SALRP is a two-terminal device consisting of a positive anode and a negative cathode. It is a bidirectional, unipolar device that can be used to control current flow through a circuit. It has the ability to be triggered by a positive or negative voltage.

The working principle of the P2100SALRP is based on the principle of gate control. The thyristor has two terminals, an anode and a cathode, and a gate terminal between them. When a small current, called a trigger current, is passed between the gate and the cathode terminals, the thyristor turns on and allows current to flow through the anode and cathode terminals. When the trigger current is removed, the thyristor turns off and current flow stops. The P2100SALRP can be triggered by either a positive gate current or a negative gate current.
The P2100SALRP’s controlling element is its gate. The gate activates the SCR when a voltage is applied above its threshold voltage. When the gate current is removed, the device automatically turns off. The P2100SALRP thyristor also features an instantaneous trigger current of 1mA, a high current carrying capacity of 500A, a reverse recovery time of 10 μs and a temperature range of –40 to +85 °C. To ensure maximum safety, the thyristor has a high insulation resistance of 500MΩ.
The P2100SALRP is an ideal choice for applications requiring high current carrying capacity and fast switching time. Its low forward and reverse voltage drops and low gate current consumption make it energy efficient and reliable, while its wide temperature range and high insulation resistance offer maximum safety.
