The RN212-2-02-1M8 contains a fixed magnitude series resonant core with two winding inputs and two common-mode filters. The RN212-2-02-1M8 uses a high frequency signal, typically between 1MHz and 1.8GHz, to reduce the level of noise in a circuit. The design consists of an inner primary winding and an outer secondary winding, maximising the effective permeability of the core while minimising the size, weight, cost, and power consumption. The window cut into the core increases the overall coupling coefficient of the module and helps to reduce the inductance variation when the winding is moved under different operating conditions. The internal capacitance increases the overall attenuation of the module, reducing the size and weight further.
The primary and secondary windings of the RN212-2-02-1M8 are connected in series with the core and the output of the filter connected to the primary winding. The primary winding resistor limits the current flowing through the primary winding, reducing the possibility of the core saturating. When the signal is applied to the primary winding, the energy stored in the core is moved through the secondary winding, where the generated current is channelled away from the source of the noise.
