Working Principle of SI3461-E02-GM
The SI3461-E02-GM is an integrated power-sourcing equipment (PSE) and PD interface that controls a Power Over Ethernet connection. When a PD is connected to a PSE, the SI3461-E02-GM receives system power, allowing it to turn on the power-sourcing MOSFET and drive the output voltage. The integrated PD interface monitors the voltage and current parameters, and adjusts the output voltage accordingly.
The device then operates in a closed-loop control mode, controlling the output voltage to its programmed limit through continuous pulses. When the detected voltage or current indicates an overload condition, the MOSFET is switched off and the output voltage is reduced. The device is also protected from over-temperature and overtemperature conditions.
The device also provides programmable current limit, PSE class detection, PSE timeout/shutdown features, and low-side FET protection. The standby-mode current consumption is also low, making it suitable for portable applications.
