PMIC – supervisors provide monitoring, protection and reset functions to ensure that the system is running properly. SP706CN/TR is one of the essential supervisors. It has a wide range of applications and the working principle is simple.

SP706CN/TR is mainly used for circuits that require 4.758V ~ 5.5V power supply and provide reset timing control signals to ensure their normal operation. It is suitable for computers, servers, communications equipment, consumer electronics, and industrial automation systems. The SP706CN/TR also provides over-voltage warning and single over-voltage protection, as well as over-current warning and over-current protection. This means it can be applied to applications with harsh environments and high demands on safety.

The SP706CN/TR has a wide operating voltage range of up to 5.5V, low quiescent current of 0.5μA, minimum reset toggle time of 10ms, and minimum reset integration width of 50ms. It is pre-programmed to automatically power up and reset on the rising edge of the power supply. The reset toggle time, the integration width and other parameters can be set according to the requirements of the system.

The working principle of SP706CN/TR is relatively simple. The reset function is accomplished by comparing the internal voltage regulator with the Vcc power supply voltage, and it produces a reset signal when the power supply voltage drops below the adjusted "LRESET" value. In addition, the over-voltage and over-current protection functions of the SP706CN/TR are also realized by monitoring the voltage and current values. If the voltage or the current watching exceeds the pre-set threshold, it produces a warning signal or even a reset signal to protect the circuits.
