TL5001AQDRG4Q1, a voltage regulator designed by Texas Instruments, belongs to the DC DC Switching Controllers PBX series in PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit). This integrated circuit (IC) is a high-voltage device with a wide operating voltage range from 6V to 100V, ideal for applications that require enhanced isolation performance and very fast transient response due to its superior under-voltage lockout (UVLO) circuit.In TL5001AQDRG4Q1, two-phase synchronous PFC (power factor correction) controller provides improved power factor and efficiency while extending the output voltage range. It also supplies independent reset circuits for both low-side and high-side MOS switches, enabling the use of low-side PWM (pulse-width modulation).Typical application of this voltage regulator includes industrial motor drives, AC-DC power conversion, telecommunications power supply and DC-DC converters.In TL5001AQDRG4Q1, it has internal diagnostic voltage comparator, power-related protection circuits and a unique current sense to support various current sense topologies and automatic thermal foldback protection. It is also available with a wide set of features including adjustable peak current, true-differential input voltage sensing and voltage loop compensation.TL5001AQDRG4Q1 voltage regulator offers many advantages over traditional PFC circuits with two major ones, namely high-efficiency and lower ripple noise. It supports up to 100V output voltage range with power factor correction, improved thermal design across the load and minimal switching losses due to the efficient dual-MOSFET topology. Furthermore, it has an internal current sense which ensures each phase current is well balanced and will not be affected by the external components tolerances. TL5001AQDRG4Q1 is a smart voltage regulator with the capability to detect early warning signs of faults and initiate corrective actions. Its high-precision voltage feedback loop realizes precise output voltage regulation. Moreover, its enhanced over-voltage and under-voltage lockout circuits help protect the power source from over-voltage and supply transients.In terms of its working principle, TL5001AQDRG4Q1 is a two-phase synchronous buck-type PFC controller that converts input voltage to a regulated output voltage with a power factor higher than 0.9 across a wide voltage range. It does this by use of two internal high-side and two low-side MOSFETs (or mosfets) switches to rectify the input voltage and regulate the power factor of the power source, allowing for the maximum efficiency. Internally, the circuit monitors the input voltage, current and output protection and regulation values while comparing the feedback voltage with the VCOM voltage (reference voltage). When the feedback voltage is lower than the VCOM voltage, the switch is activated to correct the output voltage to its desired value, and when the feedback voltage is higher than the VCOM voltage, the switch is stopped to regulate the output voltage.Overall, TL5001AQDRG4Q1 is an efficient voltage regulator with wide voltage range and performance, as well as a wide range of features including power factor correction, power protection and loop compensation, making it ideal for various industrial, telecommunication, and power conversion applications.
