TPS2373-4RGWT Application Field and Working Principle

TPS2373-4RGWT, belonging to the PMIC - Power over Ethernet (PoE) Controllers family, is a four-port PoE controller which is designed to deliver power to network access devices (PDs) in switches and routers through Ethernet cables.

Working Principles

The TPS2373-4RGWT PoE controller integrates four PDs for supplying power through an Ethernet cable. It supplies 5V/12V to each of the ports without having the need for any external circuitry. Further, the controller has an internal switch to control each port independently, which helps the device respond to power requests from the PDs.

The TPS2373-4RGWT can detect the cable length, link speed and correct current draw by the PDs in order to guarantee the compliance of the power requirements. It allows data communication rate at up to 190 Kbps. The controller has an auto-configuration capability which helps it to determine the power requirements of the PDs and begin providing power. This device has an on-chip power MOSFET to shut down each port automatically when the temperature rises beyond the threshold temperature.

The TPS2373-4RGWT PoE controller integrates four on-chip PDs and is able to control each port independently in order to provide power to ASICs, Microcontrollers and other PDs based on IEEE802.3ah and 110V standards.
