The UCC24612-1EVM is a product from Texas Instruments intended for use in evaluating the UCC24612-1/UCC24611-1 dual driver ICs. It supports dual phase control to achieve high current power conversion and can be used in a variety of applications such as digital fans, solar micro-inverters and power supplies. This evaluation board includes an adjustable low side driver, a high side driver with variable switching frequency, a FET over-temperature protection circuit and a voltage-controlled oscillator for monitoring. Additionally, the board is designed to provide thermal and electrical data to help designers better understand their product’s power efficiency. The board also includes headers and banana jacks for easy connection to a power supply.
The UCC24612-1EVM is designed to work with high efficiency DC/DC & AC/DC SMPS applications. It features a programmable high side drive with an adjustable switching frequency from 200 kHz to 2.2 MHz. The low side driver supports adjustable low side drive with adjustable current limit and adjustable dead-time control. The FET over-temperature protection limits current to the power devices in case of excessive temperature and the voltage-controlled oscillator provides cycle-by-cycle monitoring of the main power supply so that the power devices can be switched off if the voltage set-point is exceeded. Additionally, the board can be used in applications where a standard converter can not be used due to its wide input voltage range, low start-up current draw and high speed operation.
In order to evaluate the DC/DC & AC/DC SMPS power conversion, the UCC24612-1EVM includes a host of features. The board provides two 5V/3.3V/1.8V output benefits from a minimum 10 amp source. It also includes precision output voltage control via an integrated power Pathfinder and an adjustable current limit to help minimize the ripple and noise on the output. Additionally, the FET over-temperature protection feature provides further protection to the power devices. Furthermore, the board provides quick start-up performance via an adjustable soft-start circuit to help prevent damage to the power supply. Finally, the board includes a synchronizable PWM control demo circuit and a pulse width modulation (PWM) control demo circuit for further evaluation.
