Unregulated dual-channel, 4.4-volt to 40-volt current-mode controllers, such as UCC27531EVM-184, are specially designed for demanding up-to-date power control applications in space-constrained industrial/commercial and automotive conditions. They help to simplify the design of high efficiency, wide input voltage range, high power density, isolated AC/DC and DC/DC converters.

UCC27531EVM-184 Application Field

The UCC27531EV184 board is used for demonstration of the advanced current-mode controller UCC27531 with two switching outputs, a.k.a. ‘the two-channel controller’. Every output works in series, which allows resonant structure solutions. The parameter default settings of the board are optimized for source side PFC boost circuits with 750W power, achieved in a half-bridge topology.

The two outputs of UCC27531 offer different current ratings which makes them suitable for driving two topologies with different power ratings. This way, total power rating can be up to 1500W in resonant structure.

The UCC27531EVM-184 application field covers any type of isolated AC/DC and DC/DC converters, such as isolated flybacks, LLC resonant converters, etc.

UCC27531EVM-184 Working Principle

The UCC27531EVM-184 is an up-to-date extremely high performance solution for demanding power control applications. Its main features are 96-230VAC input voltage range, 0-35V output voltage range, 1500W total power rating, 500 KHz and 3MHz switching frequency range, 95% efficiency, and 3A output current rating.

It provides different protection mechanisms for both outputs, covering soft-start, over-current protection, under-voltage lock-out, thermal protection, and much more.
