UCC39002EVM is an optimized standby driver and controller, an integrated field effect transistor (FET) latch and control solution for use in ultra-low power uses. As part of Texas Instruments’ evaluation and demonstration boards and kits, UCC39002EVM is designed to quickly and easily evaluate and demonstrate the features and performance of the UCC39002 components.

UCC39002EVM is applicable to instant-on designs, including television receivers and personal computers (PCs). It ensures that the controller remains in standby mode while powered on and that the FET gate is latched during power-down cycles. Additionally, the UCC39002EVM provides a comprehensive system-level view of the overall system power management, such as complex reset and diagnose signals, and other related signals. It can also be used to quickly evaluate the load regulation characteristics of the UCC39002. Moreover, the UCC39002EVM is capable of providing a low power package that can verify the performance of the UCC39002 device under real world conditions.

UCC39002EVM is designed to work with the TI MSP430F20xx family of microcontrollers, allowing for turning a power supply on/off or generating an intermediary state. Other features include a wide range of available diagnostic and status signals, 3.3V or 5V operation, and an overload protection circuit. The evaluation board features on-board LEDs for power indication, FET activity indication, and status indication. It is powered by a 5V AC adapter and comes with a USB power cable.

UCC39002EVM is based on the UCC39002, which is ideal for automotive, industrial, medical, and consumer applications. UCC39002 is suitable for applications where ultra-low power consumption is necessary even when the system is powered-down and the input power supply is gradually decreased from full power to zero. As an integrated FET control logic and power-good indicator, UCC39002EVM ensures lower power consumption and fewer parts when compared to conventional solutions, and also offers advanced output voltage regulation and robustness at lower power levels.

The UCC39002EVM board is very easy to use. All it requires is the connection of a 5V AC adapter to the power-on/power-down switch and the USB power cable. Once the power-on/power-down switch has been connected to the USB port, simply press the switch to power-on the device. The power status LED will light up in green to indicate that the EVM is powered-on. Once the device is powered-on, press the power-on/power-down switch again and the power status LED will be off. The UCC39002EVM can also be used with the 5V AC adapter for controlling and monitoring the input power supply.
