The ULQ2004AN series is an ultra-low power FET power distribution switch, load driver and multiplexer IC that is designed to provide solutions for mobile handsets and other portable applications. It is a high-efficiency and low-cost solution to deliver power to applications with low voltage and ultra low current requirements.The ULQ2004AN provides up to eight power distribution switches and eight load drivers, as well as an integrated multiplexer to reduce system component requirements. The IC has a fast on/off switching time of 1.2μs and a low standby current of 0.4μA over the entire temperature range. Additionally, the on-state low-dropout voltage is 1V.The ULQ2004AN is powered from a high voltage source, typically from a 5V or 3V source. The voltage level is regulated to the desired operating output voltage range of 0.2 to 3.3V by a built-in regulator and a low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator.The ULQ2004AN can be used for a wide range of applications such as a battery-backup system, a test system, in low power portable systems, and in any other application where ultra-low power supply and switching is required. In addition, it is suitable for use in mobile phones, PDAs, and digital cameras, as well as automotive, medical, and industrial applications.The ULQ2004AN has several features that contribute to its excellent operation, such as a low active current, integrated top MOSFETs, fast switching time, wide temperature range, integrated low-dropout linear regulator, low stand-by current, and low dynamic power consumption.In terms of its working principle, the ULQ2004AN works by distributing the input power to its multiple power distribution switches. These switches then control the voltage levels to the load drivers, thereby providing a reliable power source to the loads. The integrated multiplexer is used to select the desired load for power distribution.The ULQ2004AN is an excellent solution for power management in portable applications, such as mobile phones and PDAs. It is an energy efficient solution that allows for energy conservation, by allowing for low voltage and ultra low current requirements. The integrated multiplexer reduces system component requirements and the integrated LDO linear regulator allows for regulated low voltage operation.
