Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors are capacitors that use a layer of oxide of an aluminum foil as a dielectric. The oxide formed on the aluminum foil surface acts as the capacitor insulator, while the aluminum foil serves as the conductive electrode. The UMP1H0R1MDD (Ultra-Miniature, High Voltage, Low ESR, High Ripple Current, Double Shielded) application field is the field of Super Miniature Moulded, Remote-Mountable, Automotive Grade Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors. This type of aluminum electrolytic capacitor can provide a very low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) and a very high ripple current.The capacitors of the UMP 1H0R1MDD type provide superior performance and reliability, even in extreme environmental conditions. The double-shielding feature offers superior protection against environmental noise, making them suitable for applications in harsh environmental conditions such as the automotive industry. The remote-mountable feature makes them well-suited for applications such as those in vibration sensitive equipments.The operating principle of aluminum electrolytic capacitors is based on the Faradaic reaction between the aluminum and oxygen. This reaction forms a thin layer of aluminum oxide on the aluminum foil anode. As the anode and cathode parts of the capacitor come into contact, an electrical field is generated, thus causing the formation of an electric field and the capacitance of the capacitor circuit. The capacitance of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is determined by the thickness of the oxide layer and the area of the plate.Additionally, the capacitor also contains an electrolyte solution (such as an aqueous or organic acid), which helps to increase the electric conductivity between the two conductors and increase the capacitance of the circuit. This electric field is created by the decreasing water potential and increasing electric potential of the electrolyte solution.Because the electric field is generated between the anode and other conductors, the structure and thickness of the dielectric are important factors to consider. The orientation of the dielectric is also essential, since the electric field is generated within the capacitor.
