Aluminium electrolytic capacitors consist of three main components: the anode (positive terminal), the cathode (negative terminal) and the electrolyte. The anode is typically made of rolled aluminium foil with an oxide layer on one side. The oxide layer acts as the dielectric, insulating the electrode from the electrolyte.
