The MIC2582-JYM-TR is an integrated hot swap controller developed by Micrel, Inc. It is a monolithic IC specifically designed to provide circuit protection and hot swapping for protected power supplies. This integrated solution provides a robust current limit feature, allowing high levels of inrush current protection and avoids the need for external components.
The MIC2582-JYM-TR is designed primarily to protect hot-swapped or inserted loading applications by preventing current surge while providing protection from an overvoltage condition. This hot swap controller features an actively controlled switch, supporting gate charge control and gate current protection. It is designed to control the flow of current during hot swapping, ensuring that components are not subjected to voltage surges. The MIC2582-JYM-TR features a wide operating range from 4V to 24V and a switching frequency of up to 500 kHz. The overvoltage protection circuit supports up to 32V from a 24V system and features adjustable parameters such as current limit, VCC on detection and output delay. The MIC2582-JYM-TR works by using a low on-resistance, actively controlled power switch.
