1N4006G BK is a single-phase bridge rectifier which is widely used in the power transmission and distribution of AC/DC power conversion. The 1N4006G BK is a cost-effective alternative for other larger, costlier rectifier pairs.

The 1N4006G BK is a rugged, thermally and chemically resistant rectifier, withstanding temperatures from -40°C to +125°C and all common solvents, making it suitable for use in both industrial and automotive applications. It has a low forward voltage drop of 1.58V and a maximum reverse leakage current of 17.7mA at 125°C, making it suitable for use in power distribution applications or as a freewheeling diode in an induction motor.

Working principle

A 1N4006G BK is a single-phase bridge rectifier, made up of four diodes connected in a bridge configuration. The bridge rectifier is connected in series between an AC supply and a load. when the AC voltage pulses turn positive at the top of the bridge, the diode between points A and D becomes forward biased, allowing current to flow from A to D. when the AC voltage pulses turn negative at the bottom of the bridge, the diode between A and C becomes forward biased, allowing current to flow from A to C. This alternating current is thus rectified and converted into direct current.

The 1N4006G BK has a low reverse leakage current of 17.7mA at 125°C, compared to the 1N4007 which has a reverse leakage current of 200mA at 125°C, allowing it to be used as a freewheeling diode in an induction motor. The low forward voltage drop of 1.58V makes the 1N4006G BK an ideal choice for power distribution applications.
