The 25LC128X-E/ST is an 8-pin Microchip 8-bit Serial EEPROM designed for use in harsh enviroments. It is one of the oldest and most reliable EEPROM devices available in the market. It has a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C, making it ideal for those applications that require long term storage in a high temperature environment. It is also ideal for automotive, consumer and industrial electronics applications that require low-level, low-power and fast data transfer.Working Principle of 25LC128X-E/ST
The 25LC128X-E/ST is an 8-pin Serial EEPROM. It uses a 2-wire Serial Interface Protocol (SPI) and supports up to 1MHz data transfer rates. The 25LC128X-E/ST has a 256 byte Page Write Buffer which can store up to 256 bytes of data before it needs to be written to the EEPROM. The Write Buffer can also be configured for Byte, Page and Continuous In-Page program operations.The 25LC128X-E/ST has two distinct commands; the Write Instruction Command and the Read Instruction Command. The Write Instruction Command is used to write data and the Read Instruction Command is used to read data. Both commands use an 8-bit Data and 8-bit Address format.The Write Instruction Command consists of a 6-bit opcode, the 8-bit Data, and the 8-bit Address. The opcode is used to determine the type of write operation that is to be performed. The Read Instruction command consists of two 6-bit opcodes and the 8-bit Address. The first opcode is used to determine the type of read operation that is to be performed and the second opcode is used to determine the data source.The 25LC128X-E/ST supports two types of persistent write operations; the Enable External Write Protect command and the Disable External Write Protect command. The Enable External Write Protect command is used to protect data from unintended overwrites or from external devices. The Disable External Write Protect command is used to enable external devices to write data to the 25LC128X-E/ST.The 25LC128X-E/ST also supports a Hardware Data Protection feature. This feature protects data from unintentional or unauthorized manipulation of the data at the hardware level. This feature can be enabled or disabled using the Write Instruction Command.Conclusion
