The 25LC640A-E/MS is an 8-pin Serial Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM). This EEPROM is designed to provide non-volatile memory storage and can be used for a wide range of applications, from low-density storage of data such as calibration settings, to high-density memory storage of large quantities of images, sound or text.

The 25LC640A-E/MS can accept both Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) and Microwire serial interface instructions. The chip has a self-timed write cycle and features a hardware write protect pin that can enable the write protection of the entire memory array, or one byte at a time. The device also has programmable write protection of the entire memory array.

The 25LC640A-E/MS operates over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, offering extended temperature support and making it well suited for demanding industrial, automotive, and consumer environments. The device is available in 8-pin SOIC and TSSOP packages.

Memory applications for the 25LC640A-E/MS include industrial and consumer applications, medical equipment, automotive applications, and consumer electronics such as digital cameras, MP3 players, and gaming systems. The 25LC640A-E/MS has an endurance of 1 million write cycles and can retain data for an extended period of time without corruption or data loss.
