Working Principle of 25TTS08STRL Thyristors

When the thyristor is off, the anode-cathode junction is reverse-biased which prevents current from flowing between the two terminals. To switch on the thyristor, an external gate signal must be applied. This gate signal will trigger the thyristor, making the anode-cathode junction forward-biased, thus allowing current to flow between the two terminals.
Once the thyristor is triggered, it will remain in its conducting state regardless of the gate voltage. The only way to switch off the the thyristor is by reducing the current flow to zero. This can be done either by removing the gate signal or decreasing the supply voltage. As soon as the current flow drops to zero, the thyristor will switch off and will remain off until a new gate signal is applied.
