AD9862-EBZ RF Evaluation and Development Kits, Boards
The AD9862-EBZ is a RF evaluation and development kit from Analog Devices, Inc. It is an application-specific reference design board designed to quickly and easily evaluate the performance and features of the Analog Devices AD9862 Family of high performance Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS) and quadrature frequency synthesizer products.The AD9862-EBZ kit features a single evaluation board that is optimized for evaluation of the AD9862 family of DDS with an integrated VCO and a separate VCO board. The VCO board includes external circuitry to create a more robust signal and to minimize the effects of phase noise on the signal. The AD9862-EBZ provides direct access to all signal routing, configurable control logic, and pin functions of the AD9862.The AD9862-EBZ kit includes the evaluation board, two VCO boards, and all the necessary components and accessories for general operation of the kit. The included components can be used to construct a wide range of configurations of signal pathway correlation, data conversion, and modulation. Additionally, the AD9862-EBZ enables quick signal routing and configuring for evaluation scenarios.AD9862-EBZ Application Field and Working Principle:
The AD9862-EBZ can be used in a variety of applications ranging from test and measurement equipment, signal conditioning, instrumentation, medical devices, and telecommunications. The AD9862-EBZ is based on a Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) architecture which provides a very high performance, high linearity, and fairly low phase noise synthesizer. The DDS architecture uses the digital data to determine the frequency of the output signal, which is then converted to an analog signal. Additionally, the AD9862-EBZ evaluation board also includes a Quadrature Frequency Synthesis (QFS) architecture which allows for the generation of two signals with different (but equally spaced) frequencies at the output. The basic principle of operation is the same as the DDS architecture, however, the AD9862-EBZ board also uses a special method of quadrature signal generation which allows for the two signals to have a different frequency on their respective channels. This is done by using a Quadrature Modulated Least Mean Squares (LMS) circuit to achieve better frequency resolution, lower phase noise, and improved spurious responses on the outputs. The AD9862-EBZ also features a wide range of features such as frequency lock & capture, frequency span, frequency jumps, internal/external clock source selection, and VCO tuning voltage control. Additionally, the board also has a wide range of configuration options such as data width, modulation type, resolution, frequency span, programmable phase/frequency resolution, and maximum output power. In conclusion, the AD9862-EBZ evaluation board is a cost-effective solution for quick and easy evaluation of the Analog Devices AD9862 family of direct digital synthesis (DDS) and quadrature frequency synthesis (QFS) products.
