The AOL1208 is a JFET input analog switch which offers low off-leakage, low on-resistance, and fast switching speed. When compared to its predecessor, the AOL0504, the AOL1208 features lower on-leakage, lower off-leakage, and faster switching speeds. With its significant improvement in a variety of its specs, the AOL1208 has become one of the most versatile and reliable FET switches on the market.
The AOL1208 is built on a single enhancement-mode n-channel MOSFET structure, with a top gate gate-oxide layer, a drain-source connection, and a centrally-located source-substrate bias.
The JFET input to the AOL1208 is used to control the on/off state of the FET switch, with the central source-substrate contact providing a reference potential such that the gate-source voltage of the MOSFET is not affected by the voltage potential of the source. This ensures that the gate-source voltage is always kept at a constant level across the entire application.
The AOL1208 is based on the same principles of FET switching as the AOL0504, with the same structure of a top-gate gate-oxide layer, as well as a drain-source connection, and a source-to-substrate contact.
The AOL1208, however, has improved in various electrical parameters and characteristics, due to the increased gate-oxide layer, the thicker drain-source layer, and the improved source-substrate bias. This changes the performance of the switch, allowing for improved off-leakage and on-resistance, as well as higher switching speeds.
The AOL1208 has a low off-leakage when in its off-state, ensuring that the switch does not accidentally turn on during operation. It also has a low on-resistance of just 4.8 Ω, allowing it to efficiently activate and deactivate the FET switch with little power loss.
The AOL1208 also has a fast switching speed of 65 ns, which is significantly faster than the AOL0504’s switching speed, allowing for faster and more accurate operation of the switch.
