The AP3512EMPTR-G1 is a high-performance 3.2V / 600mA DC-DC step-down (buck) converter with integrated low output voltage resistors, PWM control and driver, and three PowMosFETs. The device is designed for the latest generation of mobile devices, including smartphones, tablets, STBs, game consoles and other portable digital products. AP3512EMPTR-G1 integrates a high-accuracy current-limiting circuit and low-dropout regulator to protect devices from over-current and over-voltage conditions.
The AP3512EMPTR-G1 features a high-efficiency, synchronous rectified buck converter with a wide input voltage range from 3.3V to 28V. The programmable efficient PWM control with an external compensation network allows the device to accurately regulate an output voltage as low as 0.6V. The internal current-limit circuit senses the current in the discharge inductor and then shuts down the output switch to prevent a short-circuit or over-current condition.
The AP3512EMPTR-G1 includes a Boost Mode which prevents complete shutdown when the output voltage falls below the threshold, or is subjected to transients. It also offers users advanced features such as open/short load detection, Power Good indicator, and a programmable soft-start function which eliminates inrush currents. The device is available in both QFN-32 and HVQFN-32 packages with a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C.

Working Principle:The AP3512EMPTR-G1 is a synchronous buck converter which uses a combination of a buck regulator, an internal power MOSFET, a high-accuracy current-limiting circuit, and a low-dropout regulator to regulate the output voltage. The buck regulator is used to step down the input voltage to the desired output voltage. The internal power MOSFET then switches on and off, and is controlled by the PWM comparator. The high-accuracy current-limiting circuit monitors the current in the inductor and will shut down the power switch if it detects an over-current or short-circuit condition. Finally, the low-dropout regulator maintains a precise output voltage.
