BC557TA is a NPN silicon epitaxial transistor that comes in a mini-mold SOT-23 package. It is designed for commercial applications and is particularly suited for use as general purpose amplifier and switching devices in consumer electronics. BC557TA has an in-built Activation Structure that improves performance, reliability and minimizes power consumption.

When the current from the base reaches the collector, it induces an equal and opposite current from the collector to the emitter. This current flow is known as the collector-emitter current and it is usually referred to as Ic.

The transistor’s current gain is defined as the ratio of the collector current to the base current. This is known as the hFe and it reflects the transistor’s ability to amplify current. The BC557TA has a maximum hFE of 800. The transistor’s saturation voltage is defined as the voltage across the collector-emitter junction when the transistor is conducting. The BC557TA has a saturation voltage of 0.2V.
