BCV64B,215 is an array of four, high current, low saturation NPN transistors made using the advanced BCV process. Designed for medium power applications such as automotive, industrial control, power and audio, this device is well configured for use in gain stages, switch circuitry, current sources, and general-purpose amplification.

Working Principle

At the heart of BCV64B,215 is a four-transistor array designed for medium and high power applications. This array consists of an NPN transistor and three parasitic PNP transistors. The transistor is configured in a Darlington pair to provide low on-state voltage and current drops.

The gain of the Darlington pair reduces with an increase in collector current. This can be compensated by providing global feedback from the collector to the base. This global feedback helps the array maintain a constant voltage gain over a wide range of load and temperature variations.

The parasitic PNP transistors provide extra current gain to the array, allowing it to handle high current applications. The Darlington configuration of the array, together with the global feedback, increases its performance for application fields demanding precise control of currents and voltages.
