The BQ24270RGET is a nano-Power Battery charger with integrated power-path and linear controllers from Texas Instruments. It is part of the new series of ultra-low operating current linear PMICs that enable system designers to achieve smarter and more efficient battery charging. This charger is specially designed for battery charging applications for medical, consumer, industrial and automotive products where size and cost are critical factors. It is capable of controlling a variety of input sources, including DC adapter, USB wall charger, USB host ports, powered USB hubs and more, with the lowest possible standby current.

The BQ24270RGET is designed to provide optimal charging performance while also saving power during charging and discharging operations. It utilizes an Adaptive Dynamic Power Management feature that optimizes the power delivered throughout the power path and charger cycle, thereby providing improved efficiency and performance. The Active Series Resistance (ASR) feature is also used to reduce the rechargeable battery self-discharge current, thereby increasing the battery life. Another key feature is its integrated linear controller which allows the system designer to configure the current limits to suit the application’s requirements. In addition, the BQ24270RGET supports both Least Resistance Path (LRP) and Burst Charge Control (BCC) technology.

It is designed to operate with an input voltage of 3.2 V to 40 V, and an output voltage of 4.2 V to 12 V. Its maximum output current is 8A, with a minimum current of 250 mA.
