DC2501A is a protection and evaluation board for high-power AC/DC and DC/DC off-line power supplies. The board allows the user to quickly evaluate the performance of any off-line SMPS application or design. It is a compact, low-cost evaluation board with an integrated power circuitry for the main power device, power MOSFET or IGBTs and the main driver circuits. The DC2501A provides the user with an easy means for power supply and control loop experimentation and prototype testing, and allows them to evaluate the performance of alternate components and topologies in a fast and efficient way.Application FieldDC2501A is suitable for use in evaluation of off-line DC/DC and AC/DC switching power supplies. Furthermore, the integrated power circuitry can be used as a reference to design other applications utilizing power MOSFETs and IGBTs.Working PrincipleDC2501A utilizes a front-end switching controller to control the power MOSFET or IGBTs of different outputs. This allows the user to control and evaluate the performance of any off-line SMPS application in one board. The front-end circuit contains two comparators to resist short-circuits and/or overloads, and one input voltage regulator for the high-performance drive capability. The main components which handle the high-power switching action include the power MOSFETs/IGBTs, the gate drivers, the power switch transistor, the low-side current sense resistor and an optoisolator. The core components of the DC2501A provide the user with the necessary tools to evaluate the performance of any SMPS application.The main feature of the DC2501A is the high-performance gate driver circuit.
