DC2574A-KIT, manufactured by Texas Instruments, falls into this category. The DC2574A-KIT is a fully integrated development platform to evaluate the performance of TI\'s Tiny Digital Power Kits. The DC2574A-KIT includes one DC2588 evaluation module and several digital power control IC’S with various system components. Depending on the control IC, the default voltage configuration of the DC2574A-KIT may be set up for Vin1/Vin2. The system also has an option to monitor up to four external power rails which are filtered for optimal noise suppression. Other features include a system reset, on-board data logging, and high-capacity capacitors for power and energy storage. The board also provides precision control and analog to digital interface.
The application field of the DC2574A-KIT covers various areas in power management. It can effectively monitor and regulate the DC/DC converter’s input power and output power. The working principle of the DC2574A-KIT is based on the DC2588 evaluation module which allows the user to utilize the power control protocols, such as the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) and Direct Digital Control (DDC), to adjust the output voltage, output current, over voltage protection (OVP), under voltage protection (UVP), load line control, and thermal policing. This module allows the user to self-calibrate the board’s digital power loop modules such as the switching converters, signal-chain converters and the power management. Through the digital power loop, the board utilizes a closed-loop control of the output voltage and current.
The DC2574A-KIT also incorporates the features and functions of the TI TPS658110 digital power control ICs. This particular integrated circuit is designed to support the regulation of voltages ranging from 0.9V to 5.5V, ideal for low-power applications. These devices feature an easy-to-use point-of-load interface to control the voltage levels and support a low quiescent current mode for operation. Additionally, the I2C digital interface allows for simplified system control and is capable of monitoring the output parameters.
The DC2574A-KIT also uses the Infineon IGBTs (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors), which are designed for the higher performance, including the frequency rate of the device, switching waveforms, and current flow of the device. The IGBTs are also capable of providing higher power density compared to the standard bipolar junction transistors. These transistors are used in the power supply design for their low conduction losses and higher switching speed.
The DC2574A-KIT platform has been designed to provide the user with a complete development experience.
