Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits are designed to demonstrate the capabilities of a product and evaluate its suitability for a given application. The DC2531A-KIT is a prime example of such an evaluation and demonstration board. It is designed to demonstrate the capabilities of an AC/DC boost converter.

The DC2531A-KIT board is based on the qualified, Xilinx Kintex UltraScale FPGA, which is optimized for efficient power delivery. This FPGA provides the necessary power to drive the high speed, energy-efficient switching of the controller. The IC on the board is a step down synchronous boost controller that provides a very efficient power conversion solution. The board features a wide input voltage range of 4-28V and is capable of driving up to 100W of output power at up to 1.8MHz switching frequency. The board features an onboard voltage regulator and a USB connector for power.

The DC2531A-KIT board includes several features for evaluation of the converter operation and its regulation performance. First, there is a DC power supply which is connected to the board through the USB connector. This is connected to an adjustable DC voltage output for setting the converter’s output voltage. The voltage output has an LED indicator to visualize the voltage level. The board also features an adjustable DC voltage input which is connected to the input voltage of the boost converter. The I2C connection can be used to monitor the controller registers, program the configuration settings and to adjust the voltage and current margins.
