The DG308BDY is an analog switch designed for telecom and data communication applications, such as remote power injectors, power over Ethernet (PoE), and xDSL applications. It is a switching device with very low on-resistance (RL) and low TDD Far-End Cross Talk (FEXT) performance, enabling it to meet the noise requirements of high-speed telecom and datacom applications. The DG308BDY also features a unique Schmitt-trigger circuit configuration, allowing it to switch signals with maximum accuracy and reliability, as well as low loss.

The DG308BDY belongs to the category of interface devices like multiplexers and demultiplexers. It is a three-pole single-throw (SPST) analogue switch designed for telecom and data communication applications. The three poles are the input, output, and the control. The 8-pin device is available in an 8-lead LLPDIP package or an 8-lead 2.0 x 2.6 mm DFN package. The working principle of the DG308BDY is based on the voltage control of a temperature compensated CMOS-based analogue switch. It switches DC and AC signals at frequencies up to 1 GHz. When the control voltage (VC) is zero volts, the switch is disabled and the output is in an open state. When the control voltage (VC) is greater than its threshold voltage, the switch is enabled and connects the input to the output. The output may also be put into a TRI-STATE configuration by applying a control voltage between 0 and the activating voltage.

The DG308BDY is widely used in telecom and other data communication applications, such as PoE injectors, xDSL modems, T1/E1/VDSL extenders, AMI/RADSL modems, dial-up modems, video signal transmission systems, and Ethernet switches. The switch has also been used in many other analogue signal switching applications, such as remote power injectors and power meter monitoring systems. It is also suitable for audio applications, like switching signal inputs in guitar effects pedals, mixers, and synthesizers.
