Introduction

DTC123JKAT146 is a single, pre-biased Transistor, mainly used in applications such as variable frequency drive circuits, switching power supply regulation units and signal amplication systems. It is a Bi Polar (BJT) transistor, composed of two PN junction, each controlling the opening and closing of the other transistor, forming a simple circuit.

Construction and features

The DTC123JKAT146 comprised of a top NPN transistor and a lower PNP transistor. It comes with a 150mA collector-emitter current, a 200V collector-emitter voltage and a 10V emitter base voltage rating. The transistor has the outline TO-92 package and its maximum power dissipation is 630mW. It has optimized Beta performance and low VCE(sat) for improved thermal transient response.

Working Principle

The DTC123JKAT146 works based on the “PNP transistor switch” concept. When current flows through one of the transistors (PNP transistor), the other one (NPN transistor) will turn on, enabling the current to flow through the other transistor. This is done by varying the applied PNP base current, thereby controlling the opening and closing of the two transistors. As the PNP base current increases, the PNP transistor will turn off while the NPN transistor will turn on, thereby allowing current to flow through the NPN. Similarly, if the PNP base current reduces, the NPN transistor will turn off while the PNP transistor will turn on, thus blocking the current.

Application Field

The DTC123JKAT146 is used in various applications such as variable frequency drive circuits which requires quick switch turn-on and turn-off times and switching power supply regulation units which requires low VCE(sat) and optimized Beta performance. DTC123JKAT146 is also suitable for use as signal amplication systems for low noise/high power applications and for power control applications in automatic test equipment, LED lighting and control units.
