The DTC124XETL series of transistors are single, pre-biased, bipolar junction transistors (BJTs) suitable for handling small signals in the input and output stages of low frequency applications. They feature a low instantaneous current gain, small base-to-collector capacitance, and a high maximum peak drive current. The devices are used in DC-DC converters, switching power supplies, industrial and automotive applications, small signal amplifiers, and switching circuits. The transistors are also used to construct TTL logic circuits as they can drive large current loads. They come in different packages, such as TO-92, TO-220 and SOT-223.

The single, pre-biased BJT transistors can be connected in either an enhancement mode or depletion mode configuration. In enhancement mode, the transistor operates in the "on" state, with current flowing from the collector to the emitter, or from the emitter to the collector, depending on the applied input. In depletion mode, the transistor operates in the "off" state, with no current flowing. The pre-biased configuration reduces the number of required components in the circuit and requires the use of a smaller energy source.

The switching speed of the pre-biased BJT transistors is determined by their maximum peak drive current, which is the current used when switching from the "on" state to the "off" state. The current is usually around 1 MHz, but can be higher depending on the application. The maximum peak current is also limited by the transistors’ maximum collector-to-emitter voltage rating, which for the DTC124XETL series is 40 V.

The DTC124XETL transistors are designed for use in low frequency circuits, with a frequency range of 0 – 20 kHz. The devices are well suited for applications such as switching power supplies, industrial and automotive applications, and small signal amplifiers. They are also used to construct TTL logic circuits, as they can drive large current loads.

The transistors use epoxy molding technology and are housed in a single TO-220 package that measures just 0.8 x 0.8 x 0.37 in (2 x 2 x 0.93 cm). The total power dissipation is 15 W and they can operate at temperatures of up to 125°C (257°F). The transistors are also RoHS compliant.

The single, pre-biased BJT transistors offer numerous advantages when used in low frequency circuits. They provide efficient operation, reduce circuit complexity and cost, and have switching speeds of up to 1MHz for fast response time. The DTC124XETL devices are also suitable for use in many automotive, industrial, and consumer electronic applications.
