The FM25V02-GTR is a non-volatile memory device manufactured in a 3x3 stack array configuration. It combines the functionality of a static RAM—the FM25V02—and the non-volatile EEPROM—the AT25V02. The FM25V02-GTR has a dynamic access time of just 45ns and can store up to 256kbits of data. It is a reliable, low-power solution for applications that require non-volatile data storage and fast read/write access.
The FM25V02-GTR application field covers a wide range of industries and applications. The FM25V02-GTR can be divided into two distinct areas: the 1Kbit of on-chip RAM and the 255Kbit EEPROM. The 1Kbit RAM can be used as scratchpad memory and can be accessed multiple times while power is on or off. The 255Kbit EEPROM can be used to store parameters or data which is critical to the operation of an application. It can be programmed, erased, and read with the same interface used to access the RAM.
As with all static RAMs, a refresh cycle is required to keep the data valid when the memory is not in use. This can be done automatically for the portion of the RAM used to store data instead of parameters, ensuring that the data is never lost. The refresh period is selectable and can be set for intervals as short as 4 milliseconds. This ensures the data is always valid and the system can respond quickly when data is accessed again.
The FM25V02-GTR employs several hardware and software features which increase reliability and increase the security of the stored data. The hardware features include on-chip ECC, which detects and corrects single-bit errors, data poll, which tells users when a write or erase operation has been successfully completed, and on-chip voltage and temperature monitoring, which can be used to ensure the device is operating at optimal conditions.
The FM25V02-GTR also includes several software features which protect the data, such as write-protected areas, auto-erase, which can be used to automatically erase old data, and password-protection, which can be used to restrict access to specific areas of the memory.
