IL4108-X007T Working Principle

The IL4108-X007T optoisolator is a triac output, AC/DC input optoisolator that uses an LED and phototriac detector to provide electrical isolation between circuits. It consists of a gallium arsenide infrared LED and a planar silicon phototriac detector. When the LED is turned on and illuminated with a current, it emits infrared light and is received by the phototriac. This triggers the detector output circuit which is in turn, connected to the triac output.

The LED and phototriac are coupled and isolated from the output circuit using a film and epoxy. This isolation protects the user from electric shock and provides a higher degree of safety than typical optoisolators. The LED current is monitored and regulated through an internal current-limiting resistor so that it does not overload the circuit.

The optoisolator offers excellent immunity to external interference, thanks to its 5 kVAC lead-up isolation rating.
