Typical applications include medical equipment, industrial control systems, and communication equipment, as well as consumer electronics products.The IL41050TAE is a high performance digital isolator integrated circuit designed for applications requiring galvanic isolation between two circuits. It provides a physical layer isolation barrier between power lines and other circuits that is highly robust and reliable over time. The IL41050TAE integrates two dual isolator channels with a signaling section. The two channels use digital signal isolation and ensure that a power line and its associated system remain isolated for optimal safety. The signaling section is designed to provide an asynchronous data link between two circuits.In terms of working principle, the IL41050TAE is based on transformer-based signal isolation technology that works by using low consumption through capacitance to create a path between two channels. This isolates the two channels while still providing a data interface. The transmitter end contains a voltage-variable resistor, called the pulse transformer or floating transformer, that senses the voltage and current changes between the transmitter and receiver. When the transmitting side signals a transition, the voltage-variable resistor increases the voltage slightly to create bobbin voltage, which is transferred to the receiver section via the interwinding coupling capacitors. This induces a voltage in the floating transformer at the receiver side, which is then detected by the IC circuits.The IL41050TAE provides reliable, high-accuracy signal isolation for a variety of applications. Its robust design and wide supply range makes it ideal for a wide range of applications, including medical equipment, communications systems, motor control equipment, industrial control systems, and consumer electronics products. The isolation voltage between primary and secondary sides can reach up to 4000V proof voltage (1 minute) and 1000VRMS isolation voltage. Integration of current-sense functions helps to further improve the accuracy and reliability of isolation.The IL41050TAE is also equipped with three devices for protection against overvoltages, overcurrents, and ESD. The overvoltage protection limits the voltage seen on the ICs outputs when operating from the digital side to just above 5V. The overcurrent protection circuitry detects and disables an output current of 350mA or greater, protecting the IC from damage.
