ISL6844IBZ is an offline switched mode power supply optimized for performance and ease of use. It is a part of Renesas\' Power Management IC (PMIC) - AC DC Converters, Offline Switchers family. The device integrates gate drivers, MOSFETs and other components on a small, single-chip package that helps minimize design complexity and simplify design and debug.The ISL6844IBZ offers a high frequency offline switching topology with up to 97% efficiency across a wide input voltage range of 8V to 75V. The device can drive up to 1A of load current over a wide temperature range of -40℃ to 125℃. It supports a wide range of applications in the automotive, industrial and battery-powered markets.The device features built-in safety features, such as short-circuit and over-voltage protection of the input source, output current limiting and open loop protection. The working principle of the ISL6844IBZ is based on the use of an external power source to convert mains-level alternating current into direct current, and a bridge rectifier which converts the direct current into pulsed current output. The device includes two high-side MOSFETs and two low-side MOSFETs that are connected in a bridge configuration to form four lopy paths. A voltage feedback loop enables the switching of the MOSFETs to regulate the output voltage. The frequency of switching is determined by the internal clock. The output current is sensed by a current sensing resistor to provide over-current protection. The voltage across the sensing resistor is sensed by the feedback loop and compared to the reference voltage. When the output voltage reaches the desired level, the Loop Back FETs are switched off, thus halting the output current flow. When the voltage drops below the reference voltage, the Loop Back FETs are switched on to allow the current to flow again. This allows for precise control of the output voltage. The built-in temperature sensor monitors the junction temperature of the device, and triggers the temperature protection if it exceeds the threshold.
