JAN1N5816

The JAN1N5816 is a single-phase, glass-passivated bridge rectifier with a maximum reverse voltage of 200 V. It features standard-recovery design with a double-diffused junction construction to ensure low leakage current, high forward surge current capability, and high surge current capability. The device also has a low power dissipation and is suitable for applications where operating efficiency and cost are of utmost concern.

Application Field

The devices are widely used in voltage and current rectifiers, as well as a wide range of power supplies for general purpose applications. For example, the devices are suitable for a full-wave / half-wave rectifier circuit such as dc-dc converters, motor drives, lighting systems, PWM (pulse width modulation) control and many other switching power supplies.

Working Principle

Bridge rectifier utilizes four diodes connected in a special order to form a full-wave rectifier. When direct-current power is connected to the diode bridge, the positive end of the voltage will be connected to the positive-side diode of the bridge and the negative end of the voltage will be connected to the negative side diode of the bridge. This will force electrons from the positive side to flow towards the negative side, while electrons from the negative side will flow towards the positive side. The current flowing through the bridge is full wave rectified, as it provides an alternating current (AC) power.
