The LAN8700IC-AEZG is a highly efficient, low-power Ethernet Physical Layer transceiver. It provides fully integrated physical layer and auto-negotiation functions which enable 10/100 Ethernet connectivity without external PHY devices. It offers both direct connection to an Ethernet transformer and single-port connectivity to a variety of external PHYs. The unique combination of advancements in functionality, power and performance make the LAN8700IC-AEZG the best solution for cost-sensitive Ethernet product designs.
As a member of the LAN8700 family, the LAN8700IC-AEZG offer some of the same features and capabilities. It provides integrated PHY layer, signal conditioning and signal transmission capabilities with wide bandwidth support. It is compliant with IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3x, IEEE 802.1Q, IEEE 802.1p and IEEE 802.3ab standards. Its comprehensive feature set includes 10BASE-T and 10/100 BASE-T auto-negotiation, auto-MDI/MDIX crossover capability, packet filtering and flow control, 48V DC detection and support for half-duplex back-pressure operation in half-duplex mode.
The LAN8700IC-AEZG can operate in both half-duplex and full-duplex modes and is equipped with auto-negotiation capabilities, allowing it to automatically configure itself to the link up speed of the connected device. It also provides support for Wake-on-LAN (WoL) and Wake-on-Ring (WOR) wake-learning capabilities, allowing the device to reconfigure itself when activated by a network adapter or other compatible device.
The LAN8700IC-AEZG makes use of a special type of Vehicle-Side Port Technology (VST) to achieve the full-duplex operation of the PHY. This technology utilizes the two twisted-pair differential lines that form the Ethernet cable to transmit the physical layer signals. The LAN8700IC-AEZG uses the four twisted-pair differential transmission lines to enable full-duplex communication, thereby allowing data transmission in both directions simultaneously.
In addition to its auto-negotiation capabilities, the LAN8700IC-AEZG provides several performance advantages including enhanced noise immunity, improved receive sensitivity and reduced power consumption. Furthermore, the integrated PHY layer blocks the transmission of digital noise from one area to another making the interface communication more reliable and secure. To ensure the high-speed data transmission required in digital networks, the LAN8700IC-AEZG also supports pulse-width modulation rate autonegotiation.
