TVS - Diodes

TVS-diodes, also known as Transient Voltage Suppressors, are specialist devices designed to protect a variety of electrical and electronic circuits from transient events like spikes or surges.A TVS diode has a cathode and an anode. The cathode is connected to the circuit or device being protected and the anode is connected to the ground. When exposed to a transient event, the diode becomes forward biased, thereby allowing the current to flow and this reduces the voltage level. The LCE10A is a new kind of TVS diode which is specifically designed to prevent damage to electronic circuits caused by short protection and negative polarity transient events. It is capable of suppressing transients with peak currents up to 2 A.The LCE10A is constructed with a Silicon-Carbide (SiC) substrate, which is a semiconductor material with superior electrical and thermal properties compared to Silicon (Si), and operates with a similar mechanism to a typical TVS diode. It works by dissipating energy generated by the transient event to the ground. When exposed to a transient event, the diode allows a surge of current to pass through it and the energy generated is then dissipated by the LCE10A. This helps to reduce the voltage levels at the input of the protected device, thus avoiding any potential damage. The LCE10A has been designed to offer many advantages over traditional TVS diodes. It is able to handle significantly higher current levels and has improved immunity to false triggers. It also has a reverse breakdown voltage of 10V, which is higher than many of the competing products on the market. Additionally, the LCE10A does not require external components for proper functioning and has a minimum leakage current rating of 50 nA.The LCE10A is suitable for use in a variety of applications, including motor control, power grid control, industrial automation, automotive, and consumer electronics. It is particularly well-suited for applications that are sensitive to voltage transients, such as Automotive Electronic Control Modules (ECMs), Security Systems, and Solar Photovoltaic systems.
