The working principle of the LCE12A-E3/73 Transient Voltage Suppressor Diode (TVS) is based on avalanche breakdown. When the surge voltage exceeds the breakdown voltage of the TVS, the internal Zener diode conducts and the diode clamps the voltage to protect the gate circuit and other components. When the surge voltage is removed, the TVS diode returns to its normal, non-conducting state.
