The LM5000SDX-6/NOPB is a cost-effective, step-up DC-DC converter that has been designed to achieve high efficiency in applications such as portable devices. It has an integrated power MOSFET output stage, and is capable of up to 4A output current and up to 95 percent efficiency. It comes in an SO-8 package. The LM5000SDX-6/NOPB is ideal for applications such as battery-powered systems, portable electronics and other low voltage applications.
The LM5000SDX-6/NOPB operates in 4 modes; Step Up (Boost), Step Down (Buck), SEPIC and inverting modes. Step Up (Boost) Mode is used to increase the battery output voltage. Step Down (Buck) mode is used to reduce the battery output voltage. SEPIC mode provides a voltage regulating output voltage with an input voltage that can range from a low input voltage to a high input voltage. Inverting mode converts the battery output voltage from positive VOUT to negative VOUT.
The LM5000SDX-6/NOPB utilizes High Voltage (HV) startup circuit and is capable of output current up to 4A at a nominal input voltage of 2.7V to 5.5V. The output voltage can be programmable from 0.8V to 10V. It also has an adjustable frequency from 250kHz to 2MHz, allowing for the optimization of switching losses versus loop dynamics.
The LM5000SDX-6/NOPB is protected against a variety of fault conditions, such as over-current, over-temperature and over-voltage. It also utilizes an adjustable soft-start feature to minimize the output current surge and minimize output voltage overshoot when the chip is powered on.
