The LM5068MMX-1 Hot Swap controllers are designed to operate as a supervisor in Hot Swap applications. Applications include board mounting configurations to ensure proper power supply sequencing, power dissipation limitations at power up, power supply rail monitoring, and inrush current limiting. As a supervisor for Hot Swap operation, the LM5068MMX-1 allows the safe introduction of new circuits into a live bus. It also prevents damage to existing circuits by limiting the inrush current.

The LM5068MMX-1 include a 5 V tolerant core logic to allow for one side to float without the need for a dedicated plug in adapter. It has two power switches that are capable of controlling either a single, dual or triple supply voltage or ground planes. These power control switches can be activated into a pre-regulator stage to reduce inrush current or used as an active current limiter. The LM5068MMX-1 also feature built-in voltage supervision with an adjustable voltage threshold.
