LM5066PMH/NOPB Working Principle

The LM5066PMH/NOPB is designed to enable the safe insertion and removal of a "hot swappable" load. The controller continuously monitors the connected load by monitoring the input voltage level and controlling the voltage as it rises or falls. It also serves as an auto-shutdown controller, protecting connected equipment against excess current draw.

Once the input voltage reaches the desired level, the LM5066PMH/NOPB begins to ramp up the output voltage. As the output voltage reaches its static level, the controller will begin to monitor the current draw from the connected load and turn off the VRC switch if the draw exceeds a predetermined level. The device is also able to monitor its own temperature and turn off the VRC switch if the temperature rises above a predetermined level.
