The LM5008EVAL evaluation board is an off-line AC/DC and DC/DC small, medium, and large power supply (SMPS) design platform based on Texas Instruments’ LM5008 IC. Working Principle of the LM5008EVAL

The board’s output is protected against overloads, short circuits, and overtemperature. The board automatically enters into a power saving mode in the event of an overload.The LM5008 IC used in the evaluation board is a low-side isolated switch-mode current-mode (CM) controller IC. The device’s main features are: an internal soft start capability, protection and control logic, a controlling IC, and an output stage. This IC works with a fixed frequency of 200kHz and operates in the current mode to ensure fast line and load transient response times. The board contains all the necessary protection functions, such as short circuit protection, overload protection, and overtemperature protection, to guarantee reliable operations.The main section of the evaluation board is based on the CTR-5712 control and protection circuit. It combines logic control, gate-driving, power regulation, protection, and other functions with dedicated switching signals. The primary function and feature of this device is to provide the reference voltage (VREF) to the IC for use as either a feedback voltage or a precision reference voltage.
