The LM9074M is a Positive-Voltage, Low drop-out linear regulator with enable pin and built-in temperature protection. It is used to regulate voltage in many applications such as portable devices, disk drives, microprocessors and digital products. This device can also provide a smooth current-limited linear regulation, excellent load- and line regulation, better than 75mV at full load and 150mV at 25mA load. It has an enable pin that turns off regulator and disconnects output from input voltage.
The LM9074M has a typical dropout of only 169mV at 100mA and 76mV at 25mA. The enable pin has an input voltage threshold of 1.2V and an output voltage threshold of 0.2V when enabled.
The LM9074M operates in two modes, the voltage-source mode and the current-source mode. In voltage-source mode the output voltage is regulated via a FET switch. In this mode, the output current can be set by external resistors. In current-source mode the output current is regulated via a current-mirror circuit. In this mode, the output voltage is dependent on the current setting.
The LM9074M also has a power-saving sleep mode. When the enable pin is low, the device will enter a low current sleep mode, reducing voltage current to 0.2uA. This results in a lower power consumption and higher efficiency.
The LM9074M is able to maintain output voltage accuracy over a wide operational range by incorporating Voltage Controlled Band Gap (VCBG) technology. VCBG inherently improves stability and transient response and eliminates the need for an output capacitor. The LM9074M also has a programmable current limit feature, an adjustable soft-start and an internal short-circuit protection feature.
The LM9074M is manufactured using a 120nm process and has a package size of 2mm x 2mm. It has an operating temperature range between -40°C to +125°C and has an ambient temperature range of -40°C to +170°C. This device is certified for use in industrial and automotive applications.
