Tantalum Capacitors: M39003/01-2650H Application Field and Working Principle

Tantalum capacitors are commonly used in commercial and industrial applications. They are popular for their small size and high capacitance values making them ideal for use in miniaturized applications. The M39003/01-2650H is no exception when it comes to tantalum capacitors. This capacitors has a capacitance value of 2650uf and is rated for a voltage of 6.3V.

The M39003/01-2650H tantalum capacitor is used in a wide variety of applications, such as delay line circuits, filters, and in some instances even as a replacement for electrolytic capacitors. Its small size makes it ideal for use in confined spaces. It is also suitable for high frequency applications as well because of its low inductance and low ESR. This low inductance and EoS is what makes the M39003/01-2650H outstanding in high-frequency applications.

The working principle of the M39003/01-2650H is quite simple and it functions fairly similarly to other tantalum capacitors. Internally, a tantalum capacitor is composed of two pieces of tantalum material separated by a dielectric. The dielectric is usually formed from an oxide layer which allows the capacitor to store energy. When a voltage is applied to the terminals, an electric field is formed across the dielectric, allowing current to flow between the two metal plates. This current then produces a charge in the capacitor, which can then be used to produce electrical power.

The M39003/01-2650H also features a polarity reversal protection, meaning that it will not allow the positive and the negative terminals to reverse polarity which could cause the capacitor to short-circuit or damage. This also ensures that the capacitor will continue to function correctly even under abnormal operating conditions in which case the capacitor will become ‘numised’, meaning that it will be unable to operate until it is reset. Additionally, the M39003/01-2650H also features an internal EMI/RFI noise filter, making it ideal for use in applications in which noise must be kept to a minimum.
